The following list includes style conventions used when writing about 91��Ƭ�� University and not covered in The Associated Press Stylebook.

education abroad – use this term instead of study abroad for international study experiences; hyphenate when used as an adjective. See study away for domestic study experiences.

eight-campus system — use this phrase to help convey a sense of the university’s footprint or to communicate certain benefits to the audience; use only when statements or references apply to all eight 91��Ƭ�� campuses or the concept of one university with many access points.

eFlash — use this form for the 91��Ƭ�� University Alumni Association e-newsletter.

emeriti — Consult the online telephone directory for emeriti listings. As an honorary title, it is capitalized when it precedes or follows a name. Please note that “Emeritus” comes after “Professor” or “President,” not “Emeritus Professor" or “Emeritus President.”

faculty title (degree held, year joined 91��Ƭ��) – Consult the online University Catalog at  for academic title and other relevant information for all full-time, 91��Ƭ�� faculty members.

Family Day – Use Parents and Families Appreciation Weekend; replaces Family Day and Parents Day.

fashion museum — see 91��Ƭ�� University Museum.

Fashion School — see School of Fashion.

Field House — two words.

Financial, Billing and Enrollment Center — use this form; replaces the One Stop for Student Services.

First-Year Experience — use Flashes 101, which is the new name of the new student orientation course as of fall 2023.

first-year student — use this term for a student in their first year of college regardless of age or traditional background; avoid using freshman (or freshmen for multiple first-year students).

fiscal year — use Fiscal Year 2025 for specific reference; use fiscal year for generic references.
