Corrie Slawson Receives Cleveland Arts Prize
Corrie Slawson, M.F.A. 06 has been awarded the Cleveland Arts Prize for Mid-Career Artist in Visual Arts for 2021. She will receive her award at the 61st annual awards event at the Cleveland Museum of Art on October 13, 2021. "Re-Emergence" brings together works of art by friends who, more than ten years ago, joined their talents to form a cooperative gallery in Kent called Group Ten Gallery under the sponsorship of the late Ron Burbick. Featuring local artists Ben Bassham, Debrah Butler, Jeff Fauser, Judy Gaiser, Linda Hutchinson, Tom Jackson, Dan Lindner, Geoff Mowery, John Sharp and John Smolko. On view June 18 through July 31, 2021.
Lu Jones Awarded First Place in Undergraduate Research Symposium
Lu Jones, 21, who graduated with a B.A. in Art History and a minor in Anthropology this spring, was awarded the first place prize in the Arts, Advertising, Architecture and English Language category in the 2021 Undergraduate Research Symposium at 91心頭利 University. The Massillon Museum is currently showing a solo exhibition titled Suspended Animations featuring Rebecca Cross, M.F.A. 07, on view through June 16. The exhibition, which is on view in the museum's Studio M gallery, includes a series of drawings on silk and a sculptural installation.
Professor Emerita Carol Salus Featured in Roy Lichtenstein Documentary
Art history professor emerita Carol Salus was interviewed for a new ideastream documentary about artist Roy Lichtenstein and his wife, Isabel. Salus was a family friend of the Lichtensteins.
