Professor Lindsay Starkey's French Revolution Course

Dr. Lindsay Starkey, a specialist in European history who teaches our French Revolution course, this semester had her students devise special in-class presentations that tied in with the History Department's commemoration of the United States' Semiquincentennial. They were video projects in which students could pick a theme related to the turbulent events of the 1790s in France. Students could choose from concepts like liberty, equality, fraternity, rights, and freedom - all historically inspired by America's own War of Independence just a few years before. As well as touching on the history of these categories, Dr. Starkey had the students reflect on their meanings for our world today.
